Personal Summary

I'm married to an exceptional man; my best friend, AR teammate and coworker, Michael Garrison.

I am also the proud parent of my beautiful daughter KayLeigh, who is a senior at Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School and is planning to attend Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL this Fall.

Life is full of obstacles and injury, interspersed with breath taking moments and hearty laughter. Same goes for Adventure Racing it just happens at warp speed.

The day has finally arrived!

Tomorrow afternoon will be a joyous time; my foot will be free of it's shackles!

The happiness of this time may be superseded only by the fact that my pride and joy is graduating from Brebeuf High School.  I wish the time I had been in this dumb boot had passed by as quickly as the time seemed to pass for my daughter's growing up and becoming a young woman!

Boot burning ceremony date, time and location to be determined.

I absolutely, positively, HATE this boot!

So I thought that 4 weeks would be long enough for my foot to heal but unfortunately it wasn't. I've been so upset that I haven't wanted to even write about the dumb thing.  After stewing on it for a few days I realize that writing about it helps a little, so here I am, griping about the stupid thing again.

I must admit that my frustration level is at an all time high.  If I have to deal with another week of this I don't know what I'll do...SCREAM! - Yeah, I've already done that.

In an optimistic effort to get my mind on better things I have signed up for a 5k in August.  It is the last race in a series of races by TNTrace.com.  Hopefully I will be able to do some of the other races in the series but I'm not setting my sights too high right now.  My plan is to be back on track by the end of August and to start training for a trail marathon.  I have my fingers crossed.

I am currently in the market for a quality fire extinguisher... A boot burning is in the near future and I do not foresee things ending quitely, nor cleanly.  Serious flames and molten plastic will certainly be the result (or at least what I'm looking for).  I plan to send out invitations to the affair; I'll keep you posted.

Well everyone has done such a great job, i'm sorry I have to leave early! It's not everyday that ones daughter goes to her senior prom.
Everyone still looks as fresh as daisies and we're already to leg#11!
Becky arrived in from 8 with a splash! Woo Hoo! Rachel is rockin' the stupid trail now.
Ashley smoked her 5k loop from the North Gate and we are feelin' pretty in pink and lovin' the dirt!
Early course strategy get's the kaibosh after a trail marker misunderstanding cuts into our lead.

DWD Race Ready...and I'm not even racing!

Everyone seems to be ready for this crazy trail relay in Gnaw Bone tomorrow.  I have given all the support and instruction that I can to make sure the team is prepared (really, little to no valuable instruction but plenty of smart remarks and kidding around).

I hope the weather cooperates tomorrow!  We have had enough rain to cause me concern; runners could be engulfed in horse manure and Indiana clay, petrified for future excavation.  Or maybe swept away in a creek crossing, only to be found in a Mississippi delta years later (isn't that possible?).  Just a little taste of the encouragement I have given the team... :)

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to supporting those pink Tutu wearing crazy people! Hopefully the music play lists I have assembled will make it easier for them to laugh off the mud slides they will probably encounter.

The team has been left with strict instruction to go to bed early, hopefully I follow that same advice.  Dad & Donna are nice enough to put me up for the night, after I do team check-in at Gnaw Bone this evening.  Lennie's is definitely on the schedule for dinner (you should be feeling jealousy right about now)!

Stay tuned to this blog and the NSAAR home page blog for full, live, coverage and details (hopefully pics too) of tomorrows event.
