Benefits of racing with a strong person

I am personally decidedly un-strong.  Therefore certain courses of action are not really all that feasible for me.  Many teams (actually, every single other team) opted to push the boat under this log.  Normally the course of action I would be forced to take.

John thought that was silly, and decided to throw the canoe over the log...

What do you do when the "big guy" decides on a course of action?

Then make him go chase down the boat he just chucked...
