Feb. 20th Night Nav & Course Setting for Yellowwood O-Meet
Q. What's a great time?
A. Night navigation practice with my fellow teammates.
After stopping in Bloomington for a Lennie's dinner (which was delicious) we were more than ready to conquer the hills of Yellowwood SF. We weren't too keen on the temperature though and our transition wasn't all that speedy. Ryan spent quite a bit of time in his jeep before departing and there was some commotion with lights but we eventually set off into the woods.
The ridges and open roads were pretty cold but the multiple hills and re-entrants we crossed kept us sweating. Micheal managed to find some neat features and unique places for the controls making the course very interesting. The night sky was a beautiful sight, with no clouds and little light pollution from the neighboring "big city". As lead navigator Michael did a great job (he was the meet director), and with some more team training days and nights I think we will be up to the challenge that PA 24 "Old School" presents to us this year.
Thanks to Michael, James, Ryan and our rootstock friend Kirk for a fun night on Friday and great o-meet on Saturday (with the Sat. morning precipitation it was most excellent to be in a trailer instead of a tent)!
